CONFIDENTIALITY
Statement
Labor & Delivery Nurse Peer Support Program
The Nurse Peer Support Program is a safe and supportive space. We are committed to protecting the privacy and emotional safety of all participants.
Confidential Nature of Discussions
All information shared during peer support interactions—including personal stories, professional experiences, and emotional concerns—will be treated with strict confidentiality.
No Documentation
Conversations within the peer support setting will not be documented in:
- Personnel files
- Patient records
- Any formal hospital system
These conversations are informal, peer-to-peer, and focused solely on support—not evaluation or reporting.
Limits of Confidentiality
While confidentiality is essential, there are rare exceptions when it may be ethically or legally necessary to break confidentiality. These include:
- If there is a clear risk of harm to self or others
- If there is disclosure of bullying, abuse, or neglect
- If required by law or court order
In such cases, steps will be taken with care and discretion.
Respect & Privacy
All participants and peer supporters are expected to uphold a culture of trust:
- Do not share identifying details of others outside the support space
- Be mindful of what is shared and where
- Treat all reflections and disclosures with care and respect
Voluntary Participation
Participation in this program is completely voluntary.
By taking part, you acknowledge and agree to honor the confidentiality principles outlined above.
